Testimonial to a Dear Friend

It was like reading through a Chapter of a beautiful book called Life. This chapter is a brief about a short term friendship which lasted forever.
A friendship which taught me what it means when we say "Till death do us Part".

I was introduced to him as a friend's best friend.
A friend’s friend says something; a friend's best friend says it all.

There was this quick vibe, a vibe which made me comfortable the very moment I saw him. I was this absolute paranoid "had a problem with almost all forms of fun" creature whereas he was this overtly phlegmatic guy.

I would not drink and drive and he would drink and not accept that the level of alcohol in his body is enough to be called drunk.

I fondly called him “Ear buds” with his frail body, pale skin big cheerful yet distinctive face and relatively big head and feet.

He would beleaguer me on my perfectionism and how I hated to not abide by the rules and laws. He is hardworking and dedicated. He would slog all day and would unwind  by laying his warm lips on to the mouth of a cold beer bottle. That was bliss for him whereas I preferred to come back home and engage myself in household chores , watch a movie or read a book and cook a good meal.

He took to diminutive details and dressed well. He dreamt big; he had dreams. He spoke about them and made me inspired.

Every time I trotted to the store i would reach out to a small bunch of white flowers from the display. He would make a face at me feeling the smoothness of the golden yellow pollen dust.

I changed my Blackberry Messenger display picture twice a day and since the time I have known him this has been his BBM display picture. This young wise man believed it’s all a Phase!!!He also claimed he looked miserable in front of the camera and that is the justification for the “Nature “display picture.

I always spoke of death .If I get a small headache I would decide I have a fatal disease and I would die. He never encouraged such a conversation. My biggest worry is how someone would delete my Facebook account. We discussed what fun it would be to reply to all the condolence messages. We even decided our reply would be “Dear all thanks for all wishes, I have reached heaven safe”.

I really hope you have reached heaven safe.!!

I promised you shortbread cookies, the ones i bake.I was too lazy to bake them for you.Today when i have all the time of the world, you are not around.I really havent come in terms with reality.I think it is best not to.I would still ping you, look for you in your store and remember you everyday.

Blame it on the generation! This is why i think we get attached to people easily today. Technology lets you be in touch even if you don’t want to.
Everybody is updated on each ones day to day routine through posts and updates. We roam in the same social circle we hug and kiss the air each time we meet. We get used to the smell and warmth of the person.

Thanks to my selfishness i did not want to see you lifeless. Your smiling face, warm fingers, bottle of beer and contented smile is my everlasting memory of Dhruv Goswami.
Rest in peace.Your purpose in life was to add color to many habitual lives like mine. You will be ever loved and deeply missed.
