Summer of 2013

Can’t get summer off my head... that's all that I can think of! I have survived many Chennai summers not that the city I hail from is any better.

So here is some free take away from tackling the summer to enjoying the summers.

It is a known fact that summer is all about heat and brightness. We need to add colour to life to compliment the season.

Buy a bunch of Red /Orange /Yellow flowers for your rooms as a note to welcome this summer season.

Stack your wardrobe with colour, floral prints , crisp linens , whites and lots of loose blouses

Let minimalistic be the tagline for make-up.

Stock your mini bar with cans of beer, Juices and make yourself colourful cocktails.

Drink gallons of water. Easier said than done! Make this fun by counting the amount of water that you drink every day. Have a smaller bottle so that you feel excited every time you have emptied out a bottle and smile all the way while refilling.

This water therapy has been tested and tried .Apart from the know fact that it keeps you hydrated it also helps you stay far away from a headache and makes you think right.

So what's the deal?

3 litres of water ?

6x 500ml bottles?

16 glasses of water (apart from other fluids)

Try it out and find yourself glowing and ever ready to deal with all the heat.

Taking care of your skin becomes the utmost priority in summer. Negligence can lead to nose bleed, body heat, prickly heat and other boils.

It is healthy to be sweaty so sweat it out. Make sure you keep your skin moisturised. A water based moisturiser and sunscreen lotion is a must have this summer.

Though you will feel like standing under the shower three times a day .Water externally will leave your skin dry and steal you of the natural body oils.

Every time you shower in summer make sure you follow it up with a water based light moisturiser.

Other summer essentials include a fruity Body mist. Lavishly play around with the mist and smell fresh as ever that no one can get enough of you.

Add a lot of Citrus fragrances to keep you fresh. Natural lemons being a good antioxidant as well as bleach will be your best friend this summer. You could rub your skin with the skin of lemon to rub off that extra tan and also drink lots of lime juice to flush out all toxins.

Wash your hands many a times and make it a habit to use a hand sanitizer. I know we all love ourselves but save the “touching your face often” for the winters. Do not wash your face frequently but cleanse it thoroughly.

Replace you coffee with juices, tender coconut water and water melons as coffee tends to make you dehydrated.

Eat right, Add water melons , cucumbers zucchini to your diet.

Mangoes pineapple saffron adds to body heat .If you can’t keep your hands off these make sure you have done your water regime without fail.
Supplement with a lot of vitamins.
Get yourself a healthy tan (to get all the women jealous)

In summer we hide from the sun and we also bask in the sun.
Splurge on a beach holiday .Wear your bright printed bikini, flowery flip flop, and eat at the shack and get a healthy tan.

But rest of summer love yourself and take care! Have a summer romance and create colourful memories..

  4. Very useful post. The humidity in Chennai is very high during the nights. This summer I am planning to sleep on the terrace to avoid the intense heat inside the house. Even cane juice, jack fruit and Papaya increase the body heat, it seems. Madhulai juice and tender coconut water are the best cooling agents, apart from butter milk.
